Hello my lovelies. So For the Love of Craft was this past Saturday and I had such a great time, as usual. The event was very well attended and had such a great vibe going on in the amazing City Hall building here in Kingston. What a great place for a show! I had lots of visitors throughout the day of family, friends and repeat customers, it was a blast!

Holiday Gift Show & Sale - Gananoque

Here's what I'm up to today (and tomorrow): I will be at the Holiday Gift Show & Sale in Gananoque, Ontario tonight 4-8 and tomorrow 10-4 at the Firehall Theatre, 185 South St! If you're out this way come say hi and have a drink and a browse. Should be some hip happening goodies for your Christmas list!

Mulberry Winterfair, Saturday Nov 26, 10-3

I will have the lucky chance to be selling my jewels at this year's Mulberry Winterfair. The very beautiful and talented Kristyn Woodfine of Wolfe Island Wool Works is the hard working organizer of this year's event and has kindly granted Salvage Designs a table at the fair.

The event will run from 10-3 Saturday Nov 26th at the Mulberry Waldorf School at 25 Markland St. Can't wait to check out all the wonderful goods!

Fat Goose 2011

Well it's that time of year again. Winter is upon us and with it brings Christmas cheer, boozy eggnog and my favourite, Craft Fairs!!!

This year's edition of the Fat Goose Craft Fair is once again being held at the Renaissance Event Venue on Sunday Dec 4th from 4-10 pm. Last year's event was an all out hit so I'm guessing this year's will be a rager! Hope to see you all there with a brand new collection of jewels I've been working on for all of you lovelies, oh and of course those who you would like to gift them to! (Pictures to follow...)

So I am in love with these vintage couture sequins I found in my travels. They were made in France and Belgium in the 1920's and they are so colourful and fun! Here are my latest creations with these darling beauties!

Handmade Harvest!

So I'm going to be heading to Almonte on May 7th for the Handmade Harvest Craft Show and I couldn't be happier! The show is at the Almonte Agricultural Hall from 10am - 5pm. So excited for the first show of the season!!!

Longest time in between posts... ever?

It's all her fault! I swear! Well 2010 brought many surprises and good times. The biggest surprise was when we found out in early January that we were going to be parents. Life immediately got hectic as we stepped up renovations on our house and preparations for welcoming this new little one into our lives. Darla Mae was born in September and life has really never been the same. Better in fact but definitely different!

I'm still finding time to create new work and am in the process of gathering together all my applications for upcoming shows. So stay tuned! 2011 is going to be a great year!

fat goose... finally!

well i had a lot of fun at the fat goose fair. it was a grey day outside which made for a perfect conditions for people coming to check out all the fantastic independent crafters. there was delicious soup and snacks and coffee. it was pretty much just a delightful day. can't wait to do it again next year! also, sydenham stree united church is about the sweetest little church i've ever been in!

Preston - Carr Wedding

One of my favourite things to do as a designer is anything for weddings. There's just something so beautiful about two people coming together with all of their friends and family to formalize a partnership. Oh and there's the food, the dress... the cake!

One of my besties, Megan, far left, gave her sister some of my jewellery for Christmas last year. They got to talking and thought it would be nice if I could do some custom work for her wedding this summer. I had a ball working with her to create unique pieces for her bridesmaids.

The girls looked stunning in their handmade gowns and Salvage Designs originals of course.

This will make up for the previous photo! She looks stunning and her boyfriend doesn't look too bad either! What a nice lookin couple!

Fat Goose!

Well, here we are, it's November. No denying it, it's November 4th even. How has this happened!? Soon the snow will fly and we'll all be eating peppermint foodstuffs, drinking nogged drinks and stressing over finding just the right gift for those special someones in your life. If you want a kick bum gift, you should check me and many other amazing designers at the first ever Fat Goose Craft Fair. Big props to Annie Clifford and Vincent Perez for organizing this stupendous event. Check it out Saturday November 21st, 10am - 5pm at 10 Union St West, corner of Union and Barrie Streets, Kingston.

Chameleon Nation Fashion Show Relived!

So back in February, before I had a website and this blog, I took part in a fashion show at a local gallery here in Kingston called Chameleon Nation. One of my besties, Meredith, created some amazing vintage redesign clothing for the show and I accessorized them. Another good friend of mine, photographer Rob Whelan, took some gorgeous photos for the evening and here are a selection of my favourites.

Kelly Anderson of the blog 'Real Talk' happens to be a friend of mine and a damn fine bit of lady. Her always witty commentary revolves around, as she puts it: 'some things that I fancy, and some stuff I don’t fancy.' It's pretty much golden in my books and is now a daily read.

The Clothing Show Debrief : warning pic heavy post!!

What a weekend! My good friend Ashley (who is 7 months pregnant and my hero (thank you!!)) and I left for Toronto at 7 am on Friday. Despite either of us not really being able to function that early, my tiny car being the most full I've ever seen it, and forgetting to print directions, we managed to find our way to the 401 and rolled smoothly all the way to the Exhibition Place. We made it!

Soon after we got there we found our booth spot; In the eco section. Great! Acid green backdrop curtains! Not GREAT!! We both lamented how they go with nothing in the booth. Ashley whole-heartedly consoled me as I moaned further about what we should do. Note for next show: bring backdrop curtains! So we continued to get set up, green curtains and all. In the end, it wasn't ideal but wasn't as horrendous as I had imagined. So they stayed.

Special thanks to my friends who always support my efforts. Big ups to: Ashley, I'm convinced if she wasn't there I wouldn't have been able to pull it all off. Kate who came on Saturday to lend a hand when things got a little crazy. And my fantastic husband Scott. Always my biggest fan!
